
Joseph D. Mudd has 19 years of experience in international and domestic tax advisory services and leading large national tax practices. Based in the Bethesda office, Joe joined Reznick Group in 2011 and is responsible for all aspects of quality assurance for the firm's national tax practice. In this role, he is charged with helping to drive vital tax services to the firm’s clients, expand the knowledge base and reach of the practice, and enhance the capabilities of Reznick Group's tax practitioners.
Prior to joining Reznick Group, Joe was the founder and managing director of The Specialty Tax Group in New York where he helped to design and develop national tax practice groups for several large national and super-regional CPA firms. In this role, he worked with firms to organize grassroots efforts to communicate with members of the U.S. Congressional House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, and the Joint Committee on Taxation regarding the impact of a proposed LIFO repeal on job creation in industrial states.
Joe also served as a partner and managing director with RSM McGladrey’s New York Economic Unit Specialty Tax Services Practice, delivering large international and federal tax consulting projects to middle market companies with revenues of $500 million to $2 billion. Prior to this, he was a tax partner with Ernst & Young (E&Y), leading the firm’s Metro New York Area accounting methods and inventories practice. At E&Y, Joe was recognized as one of the firm’s best partners in identifying, recruiting and developing talent. Prior to E&Y, Joe worked in tax senior staff positions with Price Waterhouse & Co. and Arthur Andersen & Co.
