Julie Newland, CPA, Atlanta tax partner, recently completed Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership’s emerging leaders for those working in the real estate industry and graduated with the inaugural class.
The goal of the ULI Atlanta's Center for Leadership is to develop tomorrow's leaders who share the ULI mission "to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities" throughout the region. Through this program, Newland gained insights and life management skills that improve her ability to effectively collaborate with leaders in the challenging world of real estate development and land use.
The Center for Leadership is organized around eight full-day seminars consisting of presentations, panel discussions, property tours, and other activities which provided access to industry leaders, elected officials, and recognized experts in real estate and land use. During the course of the nine-month program, participants had an opportunity to address a critical Atlanta regional issue through a mini Technical Assistance Panel. Working in teams, participants were responsible for providing expertise, guidance, advice, and recommendations to a sponsor organization, providing participants with the opportunity to directly impact their environment.
