Fred Copeman - Keynote Speaker at 2011 Affordable Housing Coalition Meeting

Fred CopemanThe Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) learned about Reznick Group's recently published report "The Low-income Housing Tax Credit Program at Year 25: A Current Look at Its Performance" and was immediately interested in learning more. Expanding on and speaking about the report, Reznick Group Principal, Fred Copeman, was requested as the keynote speaker at the Coalition's Fall Meeting on September 14, 2011. Ronnie Thielen, Chairman of the Coalition said "We thank Reznick Group for the report and Fred Copeman for his keynote presentation at the Coalition's September 2011 meeting. Reznick Group's report, ‘The Low-income Housing Tax Credit Program at Year 25: A Current Look at Its Performance' reveals data that is compelling, substantiated and current."

Several panelists consisting of Congressional Member staff, Treasury Senior Policy Analyst Benson Roberts and others discussed the Housing Tax Credit Program from several angles at the meeting – tax reform, Congressional outlook and housing credit project financing.

The meeting concluded with a lunch presentation by Fred Copeman where Ronne Thielen reiterated, "The Reznick Group housing tax credit report and the data analysis it contains could not have come at a more relevant time – the affordable housing industry is in need of a report such as this for legislative as well as business investment purposes."

The Reznick Group report is welcome news in the midst of much tax reform uncertainty and a hiatus of very little to non-existent studies related to the performance of the Low—income Housing Tax Credit Program. Ethan Handelman, Vice President for Policy and Advocacy of the National Housing Conference, said "I read the executive summary of the Reznick Group report over breakfast this morning—the report is a great study that is essential to protecting the Housing Credit long-term.  I'm thankful to Reznick Group for this undertaking."
